Robert Adams - No Small Journeys 2003 1st sealed, as new
The inherent lyricism found in the daily rituals of our lives has consistently informed the work of Robert Adams and made its indelible mark upon the face of American art. Matthew Marks Gallery in New York has just published a wonderful catalogue (and mounted an exhibition) based on a group of prints gathered under the title, No Small Journeys: Across Shopping Center Parking Lots, Down City Streets. Adams opens the book with the following statement, "If we come upon innocence, beauty, caring, joy, or courage, even in lost places, are we not obliged to acknowledge them in defiance of ironists?" This books stands as a pronoucement of that noble sentiment.
